Effective 4 September 2026

CourseChalk is a service of ChalkBox, the trading name of Ethan Bores in Norwalk, Ohio. The short version: your meet plan never leaves your computer. If you never buy a license, I never learn your name, your email address or anything else about you. There are no cookies, no analytics and no trackers on this site.

What never leaves your computer

CourseChalk runs entirely in your browser. Everything you put into it stays there:

None of that is uploaded, backed up, synced or transmitted anywhere. It is held in your browser while you work and saved as a file on your own machine when you save. There is no server copy because there is no server that would hold one. If you close the tab without saving, it is gone โ€” from your machine and from everywhere, because everywhere was your machine.

What I actually receive

Only if you buy a season pass, and only this:

WhatWhyHow long
Your email addressTo send you the license key, and to send it again when you lose itUntil you ask me to delete it
Which pass you bought and when it expiresTo reissue the right keyUntil you ask me to delete it
A random installation number, and the date it first appearedTo notice when one key is being used on dozens of machinesUntil you ask me to delete it
The Stripe checkout referenceSo a retried payment notification cannot issue you two keysAbout 13 months, then deleted automatically

The installation number is not a device fingerprint. It is eight random bytes generated in your browser the first time you enter a key. It is not derived from your hardware, your browser, your network or anything else about you, and it cannot be traced back to a machine or a person. Its only job is to let me count how many separate copies a key is running on.

I do not receive your card number. I never see it. Stripe is the merchant of record for the sale โ€” it takes the payment and tells me only that a payment succeeded and which email address to send the key to.

What passes through, and is not kept

When you search for a venue address, the text you typed goes to the site, which forwards it to the US Census Bureau's geocoder and hands you back the answer. This exists for one boring reason: the Census service cannot be called directly from a web page.

That request is not logged, stored or associated with you. The answer is cached for a day so the next person looking up the same high school does not trouble the Census Bureau again.

What your browser talks to directly

Map images come to your browser straight from the USGS National Map, not through me. That means USGS can see your IP address and which map tiles you asked for โ€” which is to say, roughly which part of the country you are looking at. I have no visibility into that and no way to connect it to you, but you should know it happens. The same applies to MapTiler if worldwide maps are switched on.

What is stored in your browser

CourseChalk keeps three small things in your browser's local storage. These stay on your device, are readable only by coursechalk.com in that one browser, and are never sent to me:

Clearing your browser's site data removes all three. You would need to paste your key in again; nothing else is lost.

Cookies and analytics

There are none. No cookies are set by this site. There is no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no session recorder, no A/B testing tool and no advertising network. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.

I do not know how many people visit this site beyond what Cloudflare shows me in aggregate โ€” page counts and countries, with no identifiers I could tie to a person.

Who else touches anything

ServiceWhat it handles
CloudflareServes the site and stores the license records described above. Keeps standard security and request logs.
StripeIs the merchant of record for the sale. Takes the payment, issues your receipt and invoice, handles sales tax and disputes, and answers billing questions. Collects your name, email and billing details under its own privacy policy. I see the email address and nothing more.
ResendSends the one email that carries your license key.
Google FontsServes the two typefaces on this page.

I do not sell your information, share it for advertising, or hand it to anyone else. There is no mailing list. Buying a license does not sign you up for anything, and you will never get marketing from me unless you ask for it.

Schools and student information

If you are a school administrator vetting this tool: CourseChalk receives no student data, ever. Athlete names typed into a meet packet stay in the coach's browser and in the file on the coach's computer. They are not transmitted to me, stored by me, or accessible to me.

That means there is no vendor here holding student records, and nothing for a data-sharing agreement to cover. The coach's own computer and the printed packets are where the information lives, and protecting those stays the district's responsibility exactly as it would with a spreadsheet.

Children

CourseChalk is a tool for meet directors and coaches, and it is not directed to children. I do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. The only personal information I collect at all is the email address of the adult who bought a license.

Your choices

Email me at ethanbores@gmail.com and I will, within a few days:

Deleting your record means I can no longer resend your key if you lose it, so keep the email. Your license itself keeps working โ€” it is a signed file, not a database row, and deleting my copy does not switch it off.

I do not sell personal information and never have, so there is nothing to opt out of.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS only. License keys are signed with a private key held as an encrypted secret that never appears in the code or in any backup. Payment card details never reach my systems at all.

I am one person and this is a small operation. I am telling you what I actually do rather than describing a security program I do not have.

Where this operates

CourseChalk is run from the United States, for use in the United States โ€” the aerial imagery and address search are US-only. If you use it from elsewhere, your information is handled in the United States.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, I will change the date at the top and say so on the site.
